TinTac Bloomsbury messenger / tote laptop bag
After stumbling on this cool messenger bag blog the other day, we were quite taken with TinTac's Bloomsbury tote, so we thought we'd take a closer look.
Available in black, red and blue, the Bloomsbury is a hybrid shoulder bag. Part tote, part rucksack this chic little number has tons of flexibility and universal appeal which is sure to make it a hit with school age children, students and professionals who commute. Although we think the red bag is a great choice for women, the bag is in fact unisex and the blue and black versions would be quite suitable for men.
The first noticeable thing about this unusual little bag is the excellent quality of the materials: high quality woven nylon 1800 denier makes for a robust, water resistant finish. The red one we borrowed is not as bright as it appears in the photos, but will certainly get you noticed for all the right reasons. Compared to other bags we have tested in this price range - just £40 - we really can't stress the quality of the manufacturing enough.
The styling, as with other bags by London-based TinTac, is minimal, practical and thoughtful. In the case of the Bloomsbury, innovative too. Opening the bag for the first time reveals an interesting design in which the grab handle on the 'front' of the bag slides through a stitched aperture in the flap, offering the wearer three different ways to carry the bag - in the hand, over one shoulder or using the twin straps on the back as a rucksack.
In practical terms, the bag is roomy and well designed, with a large central compartment suitable for laptops up to 15" and multiple compartments and pockets either side of the main compartment for storing gadgets and accessories. The base of the compartment has a nicely padded board to prevent bumps to your gadgetry
In addition there are two small zipped side pockets with a small aperture - for your Ipod or mp3 player while the rear of the Bloomsbury features a stash pocket with a press-stud closure which is big enough to hold a paperback or small magazine. The interior lining of the bag is really nicely finished in black nylon with storm flaps at the upper part of the bag to stop any unwanted moisture entering the main compartment.
TinTac bags are a true London design classic, with a unique cultural heritage. Each bag is branded on the front flap and you also get a TinTac keyring.
